Why I teach Combat Focus Shooting...
I pursued becoming a Combat Focus Shooting instructor because I became convinced that here is a program that is not only functionally correct in application, in what otherwise would be known as a fear-reactive circumstance, but enables consistent growth of confidence in an efficient manor. Having decades of training in potential critical incidents as a normal course of work, I recognized the efficient, even necessary means of instruction Combat Focus Shooting presents, along with an ever-growing background in sound theory, research and proof.
When one finds a method of anything that doesn't just work, but is so obviously effective that it becomes apparent it's the way in general that it should be done, it becomes evident that it should be seriously studied. Shooting effectively in the context of a highly stressful, life threatening event is not sport but necessity, and if it is to be efficiently done it must be learned and consistently trained such that it produces as reliable a result as possible for the defensive shooter.
I believe Combat Focus Shooting is such a method. It stresses training such that the basics are performed the same way each time, breeding an intuitive process that allows confidence in gun handling procedures, as well as accuracy if necessary to shoot, and allows the defensive shooter to employ their recognition of the need to shoot to the maximum extent possible in a critical incident. I want to relay this exceptional training to as many people as will recognize the need to learn how to safely and efficiently handle a firearm in defense of themselves, their loved one's, and others necessary of assistance.
